Editorial Team

For decades, anecdotes of extinction have been passed around among small groups of taxonomic experts who know "what used to be there," and which species have become hard or impossible to find. Yet we have never had a single venue for recording extinction, imperilment and rediscovery.

The realization of that predicament was the original motivation for the creation of JLS. We are also inspired by the emerging framework of lost species, which acts as a heuristic for prioritizing which species we should be mobilizing around to search for, and ideally rediscover and conserve.

The editorial board of JLS is an international group of like-minded scientists coming together with a common vision and mission to better record and understand the modern extinction event, and act swiftly to relocate and protect species on the brink of extinction. See below for names, affiliations and areas of expertise for JLS handing editors.
