At JLS, accessibility means that we are striving to minimize financial and language barriers to authors and readers because we believe that what we are doing is important for everyone. Thus all content published by JLS will be freely available to all readers.Â
There are no publication charges, page charges, or open access fees for authors. As we grow, a modest fee could be instituted for publishing Letters, but the heart of the journal (Reports and Notes) will always be free; if a fee is instituted for Letters, any authors who ask based on need will be granted exemption.
Because we work with authors from around the world, JLS promotes the use of AI translation tools by both readers and authors. Papers will be published in English, with abstracts in a second language, and we can suggest the following list of services and websites that can be useful for translation:
ChatGPT: https://chatgpt.com/
Gemini: https://gemini.google.com/
Claude: https://claude.ai/
Google Translate: https://translate.google.com
DeepL: https://www.deepl.com/
Those are just some possibilities in a rapidly growing field, and we note that not all services are free nor are they are equally proficient with all languages. If you can suggest other services that you think will be useful to our authors and readers, please let us know.
